Police recover approximately R-1m in goods, arrest man

It is alleged that a courier truck was hijacked between Heidelberg and Vosloorus on Tuesday,” said Benoni SAPS spokesperson, Const Zunickha Essakjee.

The goods in the courier truck were then moved to another truck.

“The courier truck was recovered in Brakpan without the goods,” Essakjee added.

Capt Imber Groesbeek, together with the Crime Prevention Team at the Benoni SAPS, received information on Wednesday that the new truck transporting the suspected stolen goods was parked in the CBD.

The team arrested the suspect after recovering the goods which consisted of cosmetics, school uniforms, stationary, clothing, school shoes and bags.

The man is expected to appear at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
