Bikers come out in force for Easter run

The annual Legion Easter Egg Run recently took off from Grapes Pub and Restaurant, with dozens of motorcyclists joining the caravan of bikes.

Elderly receive Easter gifts

Mary Goby and several community members handed out Easter eggs to the elderly at Deneys Conradie Residentia, Griffiths and Pauline Davis courts on April 9.

Care and Share host Easter party

Local SAPS, CPF, emergency services, schools, councillors and friends pulled together in support of the Care and Share Easter party for underprivileged children at Benoni Northerns, on April 8.

Easter market draws crowd

An Easter market was held on April 2 as a family fun day, and consisted of children’s activities, entertainment in the form of singers, food and goods stalls. The market, which was held on the Hoërskool Brandwag rugby fields, was free to enter and many families visited the event to enjoy a family Sunday out.

Pug Rescue hosts fun day

Pug Rescue hosted their monthly ‘Yappy Fund-raiser’ on April 1 to pay for any expenses of the sanctuary and necessities required for the dogs. There are currently 150 dogs which are taken care of at the sanctuary. Pug Rescue also hosts the Thanda Inja campaign in Daveyton whereby sterilisation and services are provided free of charge.

Trains lead to local mall

Train enthusiasts and members of the Eastern Model Railway Interest Group (Emrig) gathered at Northmead Mall on March 25.
