Who holds the records at the Benoni races?

Benoni Northerns Sports Club’s greatest ever athlete and Comrades and Two Oceans record-holder Frith van der Merwe still holds the record in the Benoni Northerns Marathon’s women’s 42.2km marathon, although that record was achieved in the colours of Boksburg Athletic Club, in 2003.

42.2km: Men: Ndabili Bashingili (Botswana) set the record in 2011 in a time of two hours, 21 minutes and 14 seconds. Women: Frith van der Merwe (Boksburg Athletic Club) set the record in 2003 in a time of two hours, 56 minutes and 16 seconds.

50km (started in 2012): Men: Elias Mabane (Nedbank) set the record in 2014 in a time of two hours, 59 minutes and one second. Women: Julanie Basson (Toyota) set the record in 2013 in a time of three hours, 33 minutes and 53 seconds.

10km (started in 2013): Men: Abram Khumalo (University of Johannesburg) set the record in 2013 in a time of 31 minutes and two seconds. Women: Christine Kalmer (Nedbank) set the record in 2013 in a time of 35 minutes and 39 seconds.
