New Vispol head aims to reinstate trust in the police in Daveyton

New Daveyton head of Visible Policing Lieutenant Colonel Mack Mngomezulu is ready to bring back police trust within the community.

Lieutenant Colonel Mack Mngomezulu is ready to rebuild the relationship between police and the community of Daveyton.

Mngomezulu was appointed head of Visible Policing (Vispol) at the Daveyton Police Station on June 1.

He took over from Lieutenant Colonel Charles Ramahope.

His role is to oversee operations at the station, including the sector commanders, shift commanders, officers and the Customer Service Centre (CSC).

Mngomezulu began his career in the SAPS in 1991, after completing his training in Pretoria, with a position at the Putfontein Police Station.

From then, he served as a Warrant Officer at the Dunnottar Police Station.

Later on he was promoted to be a Lieutenant Colonel, and then moved to the Gauteng SAPS head office as a provincial spokesperson.

In 2017, he served as the head of the police spokespersons for the Ekurhuleni Central Cluster.

Mngomezulu, who has been serving in the SAPS for 28 years, shared his plans on earning trust from the community and putting criminals behind bars.

The Dunnottar resident said he wants to improve the image of the police in the Daveyton area.

“I want the police to have a relationship with the community and I will have an open door policy for the community members who want to raise their concerns or want to query service delivery,” said Mngomezulu.

Mngomezulu encourages the community to report any criminal activity, no matter how small.

He added that the community of Daveyton must not be afraid to come forward with any complaints or suggestions.

“I will do my best to make sure there is enough police visibility in the area and that there is a quick police response to any crime reported.”
